Biography

Tom Seraph is a chief in Philly’s prospering DnB tribe. This veteran DJ hit the decks back in ’96 under his own motivation and guidance. Steadily he has scaled the mountains of DnB and devoted his life to the genre’s summit.

During this self-taught DJ’s dynamic career he has traveled to over 30 states, creating fractures in the boundaries of tech step and causing dance floor quakes. Additionally venturing outside the US into Canada, Seraph has spun at the highly notable Olympique Stadium in Montreal. This Philly favorite and home city headliner has also been known to join the ranks with DnB legends including: Andy C, Chase & Status, Subfocus, Dieselboy, DJ SS, Shy FX, Dillinja, Doc Scott, Fabio, Dylan, J Majik, Technical Itch, KJ Sawka, Photek, Hive, Evol Intent, Mampi Swift, Teebee, Dylan, Trace, AK1200, DB, Ed Rush & Optical, DJ Fresh, John B, Noisia, Aphrodite and many more.

Tom Seraph is owner of DEFCON, an avenue for artist management and event coordination. DEFCON is associated with a strong crew of DJs, MCs, and producers, all soaring above the top of their game. Tom also acts as DEFCON’s agent, which includes booking his crew at events across the northeast and beyond.

Founding members other than Seraph were Mouse, Dicepticon, Kevin Edge and Pawn. They created DEFCON as a means to bring quality entertainment to the people, during a particularly dry time in the Philly party scene. In the past Tom was host of the “Therapy Sessions” as well as both highly successful “Whistle” and “Bang” event series, in association with Local 13. He was also hand-selected by Dieselboy to host the “Platinum Reunion.” Those events helped promote a resurgence of growth within the Philadelphia DnB scene.

Today, Defcon is used as a creative outlet for Drum and Bass as well as Dubstep artists. Members include Seraph, Destin, Royce, Clay Nyse, MC Rare Bki, Conscious Pilot, The Repjkt, Gogo13, Corey B and Contact High. Current engagements have been creating BEDLAM, a highly successful DnB monthly event at Fluid nightclub. Tom was nominated by Kevin Gimble of Circle Management to coordinate these parties, an honor Tom accepted with sincerity. His fidelity rang true, evidenced by his success, continually hosting BEDLAM events for more than two years and counting. Current engagements include hosting a phillydnb.com radio show "The Rukkus” every Tuesday 10pm - 12am. Regular hosts are residents as well as special guests, appearing weekly.

Tom Seraph’s highly energetic musical magnetism creates a positively charged atmosphere that attracts audience members to the center of the dance floor. Seraph is a superconductor and his sets send out high voltage electric pulses that stream through bodies and flutter natural pacemakers in the chests of DnB lovers everywhere. Keep on the lookout for new original tunes, planned for release later this year.
